“Empathy can be defined as a deep understanding of another person’s feelings and the ability to imaginatively experience his or her emotions. I wanted to explore the experiences of the sufferers of mental illness and those around them – the 30-40% of young people affected by anxiety and depression and the people close to them. The intention of my artwork is to evoke an emotional response in the viewer. I have used watercolour, pencil, charcoal and pastels in a number of different styles to create my works.”
